The project was started in 2001 in a building that had been ceded to Natcultura for use as a rural school. The school aims to provide education for young people who were unable to attend a recognised school or to find a means of earning a living with some degree of security. During the first four years, work concentrated on various aspects simultaneously: literacy, dietary improvement, basic improvements to the building, teacher training, healthcare and hygiene. Training focussed on farming, beekeeping and crafts, among other activities. From the fourth academic year on and after the students learned to read and write, a training school for boarders was started for young people who live more than two kilometres away from the school. |
