The course is aimed at reducing poverty for youngsters (particularly women) with low education levels, in rural areas, and offering them a sustainable means of making a living without having to leave the district where they live.

The course meets a material, objective need and promotes student participation in other organised school activities.

Participants include young men and women who are already working in commerce and/or farming, and our school students.

During the first few months, the course went over the theory, providing basic knowledge about sewing, with a view to teaching students simple pattern making and pattern cutting.

Students were taught technical and simple sewing vocabulary, and to make good use of time and materials.
